You will lead the XCOM organization, you will have many fighters under your command. So far, they have too few forces at their disposal to openly resist the invaders, but in the future they intend to drive them out of the Earth. It is there that the forces of resistance begin to gather. The central territories are the most controlled, the outskirts have great freedom. Most residents have come to terms with the new system, but there are also those who yearn for independence and are ready to achieve freedom at the cost of their lives. The new leaders are not going to fly away from the Earth, they have settled here completely and are quite tolerant of the human race. Yes, of course, the aliens established a totalitarian regime, control and surveillance systems were developed, but at the same time new buildings are constantly being erected, technologies are developing. But nothing like this happened in XCOM 2: Digital Deluxe Edition. The greatest fear of the earthlings was that the intruders would make them slaves and make them work in the most difficult conditions, and they would be fed minimal, so that the workers would not die of exhaustion, there were also fears that the aliens would take most of the resources from the planet. After the heads of state passed the reins of government into the hands of the invaders, total chaos began to turn into order.
The XCOM organization was destroyed, and the representatives who managed to survive went on the run. But, fortunately for them, the aliens did not begin to destroy the human race, they killed mainly those who actively resisted. People thought about the worst that could happen if they were defeated. The invasion campaign of the aliens went well. The game takes place 20 years after the events of XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
